The “Bertmobile”

The “Bertmobile” There were actually two.  The carts were ca. 1973 Club Car “Caroche” golf carts acquired from Oakdale Gold & Country Club in the late 1970’s. The main cart – #27 – was used most often and is shown in the following photos:

This is the actual notepad clip from the steering wheel of #27  (seen in the photo above and enlarged below):   It was removed from the cart after the summer of 1993 and still exists!

Camp Towels

Forest Valley provided clean white towels to campers for each swim – twice daily.  Keeping these towels clean was a major endeavour.  Laundry trucks made twice-daily visits to pick up and return towels.

Towels were given to campers before each swim and were to be placed into steel baskets after use.  (below)

The maintenance staff collected the towels from the various locations and placed them into large bins for pick-up.

Brighton and Admiral were the laundry services used during the 70s and 80s:

Tractor Rides

It is uncertain exactly when tractor rides began. It is logical to assume that it was after the stagecoach was taken out of service in 1977. However, the photo below is from 1964 which means that tractor rides began much earlier, and concurrently with stagecoach rides.

This is the original tractor car in the Peewee unit area:
