T-Pool Construction

First season – 1961:
Locker Room Expansion:
The locker room was originally built for the I-Pool. It was enlarged when the T-Pool was built.
This is the locker room facing the I-Pool:
This is the other side of the locker room showing site prep prior to excavation for the T-Pool in 1961:
The T-Pool water was kept clear by a diatomaceous earth filter housed underground, below the T-Pool Locker Room. The filter had to be backwashed, generally twice daily, and a new application of diatomaceous earth applied each time.
Maintenance Staff
Domenic (Donny) Paravano managed the Maintenance staff at Forest Valley beginning in the late 70’s. His father, Fiorino managed the staff before him and was responsible for the construction of the wood-frame buildings, cabins, benches, treehouses, picnic tables and many other facilities.

Outdoor Stage
The Outdoor Stage began in the mid-70’s as a wood platform as seen in this Boysworld photo from 1977:
Around 1980, a concrete slab was poured and some wooden walls were added as seen in the photo below of a Boysworld Special Day in 1982:
The map below shows the location of the Outdoor Stage:

Camp Benches
There were many (at least 50) of these benches made on-site by Fio Parravano and his staff in the late 1950’s. They were used in the Arts & Crafts and Pottery cabins and were also found in most camper cabins as well.
This one was in the photography shed and was autographed by staff in 1982.
More Benches:
Cabin Tents
The cabin structures in the Muppet, Zoolu and Jetson units were not built until the late 60’s. Before this, canvas tents were used as shelters all over camp. Here are some of them:
CBC TV at Bathurst Manor Day Camp
From 1964, CBC television camera in Peewee Unit. The purpose of this visit is unknown.
Very strange things going on. Men prancing around in bathing suits – including the CBC sound-man. The 2 people on the left look like actors.
Sunbeam Bread Carousel – 1963
1963
The carousel first became associated with Sunbeam in a TV ad from the 1940’s! Apparently you needed the energy in Sunbeam bread in order to ride a carousel back then. These floats toured around in the 50’s and 60’s.
